A pedestrian sustained serious injuries in an accident that took place on the I-96 on Tuesday, April 7. The accident happened early in the morning and was reported to the authorities at around 6 a.m. At this time, it’s not known if the driver who caused the crash was negligent. If that turns out to be the case, the victim may be able to seek damages with the assistance of a car accident lawyer.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office was among the local law enforcement bodies that responded to the incident. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office reached the site of accident in Genoa Township, Michigan close to the Dorr Road. At the scene of crash, deputies found the pedestrian who had been hit in the accident lying on the shoulder of the road.
Investigations by the deputies revealed that the incident occurred when a pedestrian was trying to cross the road. The pedestrian has been identified as Jacqueline Marrocco, 27, of Lansing. Marrocco was driving eastbound on the I-96 when her vehicle ran into trouble. She then left her car and was attempting to cross the road in order to get help.
It was then that she was hit by another vehicle, identified as a 2016 Ford Flex. The driver of the Ford has not been named, although authorities revealed that the driver was a 59-year-old individual from Howell.
Marrocco sustained life-threatening injuries in the pedestrian accident. As first responders reached the site of accident, she was rushed to the University of Michigan Hospital.
Michigan State Police and the Livingston County EMS were among the many departments that responded to the incident. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing, led by the Major Crash Team of the local Sheriff’s Office.
It is not clear at this point whether any formal charges will be brought against the Ford driver. If the driver’s negligence is proved in the police reports, it may also be possible for the victim or her family to seek compensation with help from a car accident lawyer.
