Authorities said a Michigan man was seriously injured in a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer Friday morning near Cocolalla.
Jason R. Lenhart, 22, of Burt, Mich., was airlifted to an area hospital after the crash, according to a press release from the Idaho State Police. No other injuries were reported.
Police said Lenhart at about 10:30 a.m. Friday was driving north on U.S. 95 at mile post 460 when his vehicle crossed the centerline. Lenhart struck a southbound truck driven by Todd W. Shaffer, 52, of Rathdrum, according to the release.
Debris from the crash was propelled into another southbound vehicle operated by Sara C. Wagner, 23, of Couer D’Alene, police said.
Lenhart was airlifted to Kootenai Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries after the wreck, according to the press release. Neither Wagner nor Shaffer, both of whom were wearing seatbelts, reported injuries as a result of the incident, police said.
“It is unknown if Mr. Lenhart was wearing his seatbelt,” authorities wrote in the press release.
The southbound lane of the highway was blocked for nearly two hours while emergency personnel worked at the scene, according to the release. Idaho State Police said they are continuing the investigation.
