The woman who died following an accident in the southwest Las Vegas Valley on February 20 has been identified as 21-year-old Alana McDonald.
On Tuesday, the Clark County coroner’s office said she was declared dead six days following the four-car pileup at South Jones Boulevard and West Windmill Lane.
The Metropolitan Police Department revealed that it was notified of her death on Monday.
McDonald died at University Medical Center and the coroner’s office ruled her death an accident caused by blunt force trauma.
McDonald was driving east on Windmill in a 2016 Nissan Sentra when a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Jones.
A statement from the police said the Jeep hit the left side of the Nissan then the Nissan struck a 2012 Ford F150 and shoved it into a 2000 Ford Mustang.
Police said impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The passenger in the Nissan, a 52-year-old woman from Las Vegas was taken to University Medical Center. She had serious injuries. The drivers of the Ford F150 and the Ford Mustang did not suffer any harm.
Meanwhile, police said the 33-year-old woman driving the Jeep that struck McDonald “claimed” to be injured but she was not hospitalized.
It was not immediately clear if the driver of the Jeep was cited or arrested.
Alana McDonald’s death was the 20th traffic-related fatality that Metro has investigated so far for 2020. Other law enforcement agencies have likely responded to other crashes.
