Downtown Las Vegas Accident Victim Identified as Nicholas Bordes

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified 23-year-old Nicholas Bordes as the man who died in an auto-motorcycle accident in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The coroner revealed the victim’s identity on Friday, July 10th.

Facts from the accident report revealed that the man died on Thursday, July 9th, after running a red light at about 10:10 a.m. at the intersection of Fremont Street and Bruce Street. The Metropolitan Police Department said that Bordes drove a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R on a solid red traffic signal.

The man struck a 1994 Buick Roadmaster driven by a 72-year-old woman, who was southbound on Bruce. The impact of the collision threw the motorcyclist from his bike, leaving him with severe injuries. Medics rushed him to the University Medical Center, where he passed away while receiving treatment.

The coroner, as of Friday, had not released the cause and manner of Bordes’ death. The Buick driver suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the hospital. The MPD said that the motorcyclist’s death marks the 47th traffic-related fatality they have investigated this year.

Auto-motorcycle collisions are not uncommon in Nevada and the United States. Speed is often a common cause of this kind of accident, as well as disobedience to traffic lights and stop signs. People who go through intersections without regard to traffic rules cause a collision, and it sometimes has fatal consequences. Road users can avoid the latter by the following safety practices and driving with care and caution.
