The coroner’s office in Clark County has released the name of the man who died in a rollover crash near Indian Springs on Sunday.
He is 54-year-old Kristen Moser, a resident of Indian Springs. His age was initially reported as 65.
The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. According to reports, a 2005 Kia Optima heading north on U.S. Highway 95 at mile marker 110 hit a dirt center median and overturned.
Nevada Highway Patrol said it was not known why the car hit the median.
Moser died at the crash scene from traumatic asphyxia and the coroner’s office ruled his death an accident.
No other injuries were reported.
The authorities say Kristen Moser was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
Indian Springs is around 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas. There was no further information revealed about the single-vehicle accident.
In Nevada, all passengers over the age of six or weighing more than 60 pounds are required to wear seatbelts regardless of whether they are sitting in the front or back seats.
Exceptions are made for postal carriers and motorists who have a doctor’s excuse. Delivery drivers who travel at less than 15 miles per hour and make frequent stops are also exempted. Children who are under six years old must be restrained in a car seat.
In 2019, Nevada Highway Patrol Southern Command responded to 65 fatal traffic crashes which resulted in 70 deaths.
This number is slightly lower than the 2018 numbers. That year 65 fatal crashes resulting in 77 deaths.
