On Wednesday, August 5th, the Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the female teen killed in a solo vehicle crash in Las Vegas, Nevada. Analyse Flaherty, 16, rode as a passenger in the car involved in the crash.
The coroner’s office said that the teenager passed away from blunt force trauma at the scene of the crash and ruled her death an accident. Facts from the car accident report showed that the incident took place on Monday, August 3rd, on Sands Avenue just east of Las Vegas Boulevard South.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that the 17-year-old male driver in the crash traveled at top speed and struck a wall. The impact fatally injured Flaherty, and the motorist and a 22-year-old man in the back seat also suffered injuries and received treatment in the hospital.
The police suspected that the driver operated his vehicle while under the influence, and after getting treated, they booked him into the Clark County Juvenile Hall. There is no additional information.
Under Illinois law, it is illegal for a person under the age of 21 to drive a car with a blood alcohol content of .02% or higher. The code is a stricter standard than for drivers over the age of 21, for whom the BAC limit is .08%.
Underage drivers convicted of the offense will pay a fine between $400 and $1,000 or community service and DUI school or traffic safety class. The person would also face six months suspended license in juvenile hall or jail, and a 165 days driver’s license suspension.
