Elderly Man Who Died in Las Vegas Fatal Crash Identified as Jerry Burley

The man who died in a traffic wreck in the Southwest Valley area of Las Vegas, Nevada has been identified. The Clark County Coroner’s office, in new accident reports released on Tuesday, April 14, revealed the victim’s name as Jerry Burley, a 73-year-old resident of Pahrump.

The fatal crash took place just before 8 pm on Monday, April 13. Officers were dispatched to Buffalo Drive and Torino Avenue following reports of a solo-vehicle crash.

Investigators determined that the vehicle involved, a 2012 Toyota Prius, was southbound on Buffalo Drive when for unknown reasons, it drifted off the roadway.

The Toyota then skidded through a desert area, flipped over several times, before coming to rest near Blue Diamond Road. The vehicle was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.

Eyewitness accounts, backed by surveillance footage confirmed that the fatal victim was ejected from the car before it came to rest.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department determined that Burley was not restrained by a seat belt when the car crashed, which was against the State’s traffic safety regulations.

The accident reports did not ascertain whether impairment was suspected as a factor in the solo-traffic wreck.

Police are investigating the fatal crash to determine what caused the motorist to drive off the roadway.

Possible causes include intoxication, distracted driving, impairment, faulty vehicle or improperly lit highway, all of which would be considered during the investigation.
