One man died after a two-vehicle accident on Thursday morning in the area of Russell Road and Fort Apache Road.
According to accident reports from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash involved a white van and a silver Honda Fit.
It was reported at 9:35 a.m.
Police said the Honda was going north on Fort Apache when it crashed into the back of the minivan.
The driver of the Honda, 24-year-old Osama Nabil Kartam, died from his injuries at University Medical Center.
His identity was confirmed by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge suffered only minor injuries. The authorities said the individual did not show any signs of impairment by drugs or alcohol.
Neither driver was carrying passengers.
Meanwhile, the authorities say fewer fatal accidents have occurred in the state since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the imposition of stay-at-home orders, there’s less traffic on the roads.
The first COVID-19 case was announced on March 5 but the decline in fatal crashes was larger in March than in April.
Data from the Office of Traffic Safety showed that fatal crashes dropped by around 39 percent in March this year when compared to March 2019. However, the year-on-year decrease for April was just around nine percent.
This is reflected in the number of accident reports being published.
Nevada recorded 23 fatal crashes in March 2019, compared to 14 this year. Each crash resulted in one fatality.
In April, fatal crashes dropped from 24 to 23 but there were 24 deaths.
