The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has in custody the man who lost his son in a car crash in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a press release on Wednesday, July 15th, the police said they arrested Hubbard-Jones after discovering evidence that he bore liability in the accident. He would need a top accident lawyer.
The LVMPD placed the suspect behind the wheel of a 2017 Mercedes Benz, which witnesses said appeared to be competing with the 2020 Hyundai Sonata carrying the victim. Hubbard-Jones traveled north on Rampart Boulevard, adjacent to the second vehicle driven by 23-year-old Lauren Prescia, the boy’s mother.
Prescia, on Sunday, July 12th, drove at speed exceeding 100 mph. It caused her to collide with a 2011 Nissan Sentra at the corner of West Lake Mead Boulevard. The woman was relatively unhurt, and the police took her into custody on suspicion of DUI.
The release showed that video evidence obtained by the investigators showed that Hubbard-Jones also exceeded the speed limit while attempting to pass his child’s mother. He is facing a charge of reckless driving involving the death of a Juvenile.
In an earlier report, the suspect said he and Prescia were on their way to exchange custody of the victim. He revealed they were speaking on the phone and he kept telling her to slow down until the accident occured minutes from his house. Andrew Bennett of the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety described the occurrence as 100% avoidable and an extreme example that speed kills.
