Teenager Killed in Las Vegas Pedestrian Accident Named as Megan Rusley

On Monday, July 20th, the Clark County Coroner’s Office named Megan Rusley, 15, as the teenager whose life ended in an auto-pedestrian accident in Las Vegas, Nevada. The teenager died from multiple blunt force injuries, and the coroner ruled her death an accident.

The Sunday night, July 19th, collision occurred in the West Valley area of the city. In the car accident report, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department placed the time of the crash at about 9:30 p.m. on Charleston Boulevard, west of Sky Vista Drive, near West Career and Technical Academy.

Evidence gathered from the scene, and witness statements said the events that led to the incident began with an Audi Q5. The car was westbound on Charleston when a group of pedestrians crossed the roadway. The police said that the group, consisting of two adults, were in a desert area and trying to run from the north side to the south.

The Audi struck Rusley, and she landed on the roadway. Medics took her to the Children’s Hospital of Nevada at UMC in critical condition, where she later died. The LVMPD said that the vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment.

The collision remains under investigation, and it marks the 52nd traffic-related fatality in the Metropolitan Police jurisdiction for 2020. Traffic accidents occur daily, and road users can prevent the occurrence by obeying traffic rules and regulations and making safety a priority.
