Two residents of Alaska died on Thursday afternoon after they were ejected from their Cadillac STS. According to accident reports, the victims are 23-year-old Timothy A. McDaniel and 53-year-old Sergey Tipikin.
McDaniel was the driver.
The crash occurred on Summerlin Parkway and Anasazi Drive around 3:30 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate that the Cadillac was heading east on Summerlin Parkway when a white sedan attempted to change lanes. It partially entered the Cadillac’s lane as the Cadillac approached at a high rate of speed.
McDaniel lost control of the vehicle as he tried to avoid hitting the sedan. As a result, he left the roadway and went onto the unpaved shoulder.
The Cadillac overturned and McDaniel and Tipikin, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the white sedan has not been identified. The Nevada Highway Patrol released dashcam footage of the crash on Thursday afternoon and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing and anyone who saw the white sedan should call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or NHP at 702-486-4100.
This crash was the 14th traffic fatality investigated by NHP Southern Command for the year so far.
As accident reports show, crashes continue to occur in Las Vegas despite a stay at home order being in place.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has also raised concerns about the number of drivers who are driving while intoxicated at this time. Officers have arrested more than 150 drunk drivers during the pandemic.
