Yet another Las Vegas family could be needing the services of a top accident lawyer in Nevada. This follows another fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Sin City.
Forty-two-year-old Carina Vasquez was struck by a car and killed in east Las Vegas on March 25.
The Clark County coroner’s office revealed her name on Thursday.
However, the cause and manner of her death were still pending at that time. Officials will likely release this information at a later date.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Vasquez, a resident of the city, was struck near Fairlight Drive and Sloan Lane.
Lt. Larry Hadfield revealed that officers received a call about the accident at 9:47 a.m. Sloan Lane was closed to traffic while police investigated.
Police did not reveal the identity of the driver or indicate whether they would charge the individual.
Nevada is often listed among the states with the most pedestrian accidents. In the 2019 Dangerous by Design report, Smart Growth America place Nevada at number 11.
There were 2.12 pedestrian fatalities per 100, 000 people compared to a national average of 1.55 pedestrian fatalities per 100, 000 people.
Most of the fatalities in Nevada occur in Clark County.
Las Vegas, in particular, gets a lot of foot traffic. The large number of pedestrians coupled with jaywalking and reckless driving leads to serious and even fatal accidents. Most of these accidents occur outside of crosswalks.
Under certain circumstances, the families of accident victims can recover compensation for their losses. However, they often need help from a top accident lawyer in building a strong case.
