Single-Vehicle South Valley Accident Leads to Death of Raymond Williamson

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a man has died after a crash in the south valley.

He is 54-year-old Raymond Williamson.

The accident took place around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday when police say the man’s car veered off course and crashed into a light pole at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Silverado Ranch Boulevard.

Surveillance footage revealed that Williamson was going eastbound on Silverado in a Nissan Altima when he went through the intersection when the light was green and then went off the road.

The collision happened near the area of the South Point Hotel and Casino.

Police say Raymond Williamson was the only person inside the vehicle and he was declared dead at the scene although witnesses and medical personnel tried to save him.

The authorities say it’s not immediately known what caused the deadly crash. However, police revealed that Williamson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office said he died of multiple blunt force injuries and his death was determined to be an accident.

The fatal crash caused the intersection to be closed for several hours.

About 40 percent of all accidents occur at intersections and around a fifth of fatalities.

These accidents can result in a variety of injuries including, head injuries, spinal cord damage, and broken bones. Sometimes, victims suffer permanent disabilities while some cases result in death.
