Update: Motorcyclist Killed in Tuesday’s Crash Identified as Bryce Bennett

The Clark County coroner’s office has released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed in an accident earlier this week in central Las Vegas.

According to the most recent accident reports, he is 30-year-old Bryce Bennett of Las Vegas.

The coroner’s office said Bennett died of blunt force injuries and ruled that his death was an accident.

Bennett was traveling east on West Flamingo Road, just east of South Torrey Pines Drive on a 2002 Yamaha Warrior.

He was passing a number of vehicles when he hit a median around 9:30 p.m.

Police said the force threw Bennett into decorative metal cacti in the median.

He was taken to University Medical Center and he succumbed to his injuries there.

Motorcycle accidents are often fatal because motorcyclists are more vulnerable than people using other types of vehicles.

This crash was the 34th traffic fatality investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the year so far.

Traffic fatalities in Nevada have dropped for the year so far. This is largely due to the state-wide stay at home order which has been put in place in response to the novel coronavirus.

Last year also saw a reduction in road deaths. Statistics from Nevada’s Office of Traffic Safety showed that there were 284 road deaths for the calendar year.

This was 45 fewer than those recorded in the previous year.

Fatalities in Clark County declined from 225 to 180 while those in Washoe County were reduced from 44 to 35.
