20-Year Old Fabian Garnica Survives Crash, Dies Of Electrocution in Texas City

Fabian Garnica

Can you imagine surviving a tragic accident only to die moments later? Sadly, this is what happened to a 20-year old man in Texas City this past weekend.

Fabian Garnica survived a collision with a utility pole late Saturday, but died the moment he stepped out of the car and touched a power line.

Garnica was in his car with his girlfriend when he crashed into a utility pole. Surprisingly, neither he nor his girlfriend were all that seriously hurt. While waiting for the police to arrive at the scene, the young man got out of the car, presumably to see how bad the damage was to his car.

What he didn’t realize is that, when he hit the utility pole, a live wire came crashing down to the ground. He actually stepped on one of these live electrical wires and was immediately electrocuted. When he touched the power line, the electrocution actually killed him.

His girlfriend, Destiny Wallace, was in the front seat at the time of the crash. She didn’t get out of the car and survived the crash. She was taken to the emergency room to be treated for minor injuries. When the doctors examined her, they learned that she was pregnant. The baby was Fabian Garnica’s.

Both Garnica’s family and Wallace’s family were terribly saddened at surprised at the news. Wallace had no idea she was pregnant and, sadly, never got the chance to let Garnica know he was going to be a father. The crash happened in Texas City on the northbound lanes of Highway 146 and FM 1765.
