Alleged DUI Motorist, Riley Terry Arrested After Crashing Vehicle and Assaulting an Officer

A man was arrested over the weekend in Blotter, Texas, for allegedly crashing his vehicle while intoxicated and assaulting a public servant. The dire incident took place on Sunday, May 3, and would require the legal expertise of a drunk driving attorney.

Denton Police Officers responded to a location on Interstate 35 following multiple reports of a crashed vehicle that left a pickup truck severely damaged. Responding officers found the scene as described, with the operator of the car unconscious.

On-site investigations, backed by eyewitness accounts, revealed that the pickup was southbound on I-35 when suddenly, it started striking several concrete housings for the drainage ditch along the service road. The car eventually came to rest after colliding with a barrier on the 4000 block.

Paramedics were able to revive the crash victim at the scene, and while administering treatment, deputies noticed an open can of White Claw. It was not determined whether the drink was being consumed while in transit, or before the motorist got behind the wheels.

The driver, whose name was disclosed as Riley Terry, 19, admitted to having taken a few shots before driving but refused blood withdrawal for intoxication tests.

Upon their arrival at a local hospital to have the blood sample taken, the man was handcuffed to a hospital bed from where he attempted to escape. Just as officers tried to restrain Terry, he allegedly kicked one of them in his right eyebrow bone, causing pain and discomfort to the public servant.

His sample was eventually collected, and he was taken into custody on charges of driving while intoxicated and felony assault against a public servant.

Anyone involved in a drunk driving accident should get in touch with a drunk driving attorney for representation.
