A restaurant owner in Texas, Allen Ray Carthel, 54, lost his life on Wednesday, February 19th, in a single-vehicle accident in Reagan. He was found dead on a rural road, with his car overturned.
According to Falls County Sheriff, Ricky Scaman, the Roundup Bar and Grill owner was traveling along a rural road at the outskirt of Reagan when the crash happened. Authorities think the deceased’s car left the roadway in the early hours of the morning.
Carthel’s car landed on the base of Little Brazos River under the bridge on FM 413. The vehicle rested on its roof, and by the time first responders found it, the restaurateur was already dead.
It took authorities the whole of Wednesday to recover the wreckage from the river. The police have not stated if alcohol, drugs, or animal sighting contributed to the accident, and they are still investigating.
Accidents claim a lot of lives in Texas yearly. Negligence of drivers is one of the common causes of accidents in the state, closely followed by drivers getting distracted behind the wheel.
Driving after the blood alcohol level has gone beyond the legal limit, and after the use of drugs also contributes. Other significant factors include going over the speed limit for a particular roadway, sleeping while at the wheel, and disobeying traffic signs.
Improper lane changes, wrong-way driving, and inexperienced drivers lead to an accident. Accidents lead to loss of life and fatal injuries that potentially affect the quality of life a person is used to.
Authorities have advised drivers to always pay attention to the road. Also, obeying traffic laws and signs saves lives, and motorists should abide by them.
