Bail Set at $300K for Suspected Drunk Driver Kendrick Aaron Sauls


A man accused of causing a major accident while drunk is being held on $300,000 bail, accident reports state.

Twenty-one-year-old Kendrick Aaron Sauls was allegedly driving erratically and speeding on May 1 while in Texarkana, Texas.

He reportedly ran a red light at the corner of Summerhill Road and New Boston Road around 8:30 p.m.

A probable cause affidavit said Sauls’ 2008 Dodge Ram truck hit a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and caused severe damage.

The airbags in both vehicles deployed.

Police said when they walked up to Sauls, he was saying “just kill me” to his passenger.

He allegedly smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech.

Officers reported that they saw a bottle of Steel Reserve liquor on the ground next to the truck.

The 29-year-old driver of the Santa Fe and her infant son were taken to CHRISTUS St. Michael hospital for medical attention.

The woman suffered several injuries including a broken neck, wrist, hand, and collar bone, along with a fractured skull and a lacerated liver.

The baby only received minor scrapes and scratches caused by flying debris and glass.

Meanwhile, the Santa Fe’s male front seat passenger received serious injuries. He was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center for initial treatment and then taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital.

According to accident reports, he 36-year old suffered a skull fracture, severe brain bleed, and facial fractures.

Sauls is facing two counts of intoxication assault and he is being held at Bowie County jail.
