Breanna Wright Killed In Wrong-Way Wreck In Beaumont

Authorities said a wrong-way driver was killed early Saturday morning on an interstate near Beaumont.

Breanna Wright, 27, of Beaumont, was pronounced dead at the scene of wreck, according to car accident reports from the Beaumont Police Department. The driver of the other vehicle involved the crash, who was not publicly identified by authorities, also reported injuries.

Investigators said Wright was driving east in the 2600 block of the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 just after 3 a.m. Saturday. Wright’s vehicle collided with another heading the correct direction on the interstate.

“When officers arrived (at the scene of the crash) the driver of the Nissan (identified later as Wright) was unresponsive and later pronounced deceased by Beaumont EMS,” according to a Beaumont police press release.

Car accident reports state the other driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of “major injuries.” An updated condition report wasn’t available Sunday evening. The release did not say whether either driver was transporting passengers at the time of the collision.

Beaumont police continue to investigate the crash. Information released after the preliminary investigation doesn’t say whether authorities believe factors like intoxication might have contributed to the wreck.

Wright’s family and friends posted multiple tributes to the late Beaumont woman on Facebook.

“I’m lost for words right now,” wrote a person who described Wright as his “beautiful niece.” “Lord, give my sister and mother strength right now.”
