An accident that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, February 11, has left a 15-year-old driver and her passengers hospitalized after colliding with a semi-trailer in Tyler County, approximately 2 miles west of Spurger.

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to the accident scene around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The accident occurred on Farm-to-Market Road 1013 near the intersection for County Road 4535.

Investigating troopers for the Texas Department of Public Safety have not established the root of the accident’s cause but has pieced together the events of the accident.

A 2003 Freightliner semi-truck and trailer was attempting to back into a driveway along Farm-to-Market Road 1013 and was blocking the eastbound lane in the process. The truck was being driven by 54-year-old Anthony Guillory of Hillister.

It has been determined that 15-year-old Carly Jacobs of Kountze, was driving eastbound on Farm-to-Market 1013. She collided with the tractor-trailer that was blocking the lane and the vehicle ended up going underneath it.

Pictures taken at the scene indicate that the entire top portion of the vehicle was removed when it went under the trailer.

There were three other passengers inside the car with Jacobs. Their ages ranged from 7 to 44. All four occupants of the 2004 Ford SUV were severely injured in the accident.

Ambulances that were called to the scene rushed all four occupants, including Jacobs, to Baptist Hospital located in Beaumont for treatment of the injuries they sustained in the accident.

There have been no updates to the condition of Jacobs or her three passengers.

Guillory was not injured in the accident.
