Woman Who Died in Solo-Vehicle Crash in Corpus Christi Identified as Deserey Sanchez

Authorities have revealed the identity of a woman who died over the weekend after her vehicle hit a utility pole and rolled over in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office on Monday, April 20, identified the fatal victim as Deserey Sanchez, 22.

Confirming the incident, Corpus Christi Officers said the crash took place at about 1:20 pm on Saturday, April 18, in the area of Leopard Street and Port Avenue.

As reported, the involved vehicle was traveling through the 2400 block of Leopard Street when, for unknown reasons, the car swerved to the side and slammed into an electric pole on the edge of the road, north of Port Avenue.

The impact of the collision caused the Nissan 4-door passenger car to flip over and burst into flames just as its roof hit the ground.

Responding officers found the vehicle lying near the fallen pole, with a single occupant trapped inside the wreck. Upon removing the trapped victim, they discovered she was already dead from fatal injuries sustained.

Corpus Christi Authorities believe Sanchez was the only occupant in the wrecked vehicle. It was not immediately made clear whether drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the tragic collision.

No other information regarding the crash was disclosed in the accident reports. The cause of the deadly crash remains under investigation.

Possible causes include distracted driving, impairment, potential road hazards, a fault in the vehicle involved, or an underlying medical condition. All these factors would be considered during the investigation.
