Authorities have confirmed the death of a man who passed away in a hospital days after encountering a traffic crash between the towns of Buna and Evadale in Jasper County, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety, on Tuesday, May 5th, shared the details of the crash, while announcing the victim’s death.

Reporting the incident, a DPS Sergeant Stephanie Davis said one of the crash victims, identified as Robert Solly, 56, of Newton, who initially suffered major injuries, gave in to his wounds on Sunday, May 3rd, after a two-day battle to stay alive.

The collision was recorded on the afternoon of Friday, May 1st, off County Road. It was gathered that the fatal victim was the driver and sole occupant of a 2002 Buick Century traveling along County Road 284.

The vehicle then turned onto Highway 96, where a northbound 2020 Cadillac was driving by. The Buick got into the path of the Cadillac, which led to a t-bone collision as Robert Solly’s car was broadsided on the driver’s side.

First responders rescued the Buick driver from the wreck alive but critically injured and then transported him to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where he later died.

The other motorist, identified as Moriel Williams, 37, of Shreveport, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident and was also transported to the same hospital for treatment. The reports confirmed that Williams has been discharged from the health facility.

Families of fatal victims of traffic accidents can contact a car accident lawyer who could review the case, and ensure that they are adequately compensated for their losses using a wrongful death claim.
