El Paso Accident Victim Identified as John Emmet Keaney

Seventy-one-year-old motorcyclist John Emmet Keaney has died following an accident in east El Paso on Wednesday afternoon. In situations like this, families often seek help from a Texas car accident lawyer.

The collision occurred around 1:14 p.m. in the 3400 block of George Dieter Drive.

Special Traffic Investigators with the El Paso Police Department responded to assist officers with the Pebble Hills Regional Command officers.

Preliminary investigations showed that Sonia Iboin Garcia Rodriguez, 42, was driving south in a 2006 Ford F-150 while Keany was heading north on a 2013 Harley Davidson wide glide motorcycle.

On approaching Buffalo Soldier Circle, Rodriguez turned left and reportedly failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist.

This caused the motorcycle to crash into the Ford F-150. Police said Keany was not wearing a helmet and he sustained life-threatening injuries to his head and leg.

The elderly man was later declared dead at a hospital in the area.

This was the 23rd traffic fatality in El Paso was the year so far. At this point in 2019, there were 21 accident deaths.

People continue to lose their lives on Texas’ roads every day even though a state-wide stay-at-home order has been in place since April 2. There are fewer vehicles on the state’s roads.

Investigations into the crash will continue.

It is not yet known if Rodriguez will face charges or citations. Depending on the circumstances, Keaney’s survivors may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim with help from a car accident lawyer.
