William Munoz, the lead guitarist for a popular El Paso band, Fixed Idea was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Friday night in Northeast El Paso.
Two days after the incident, bandmates remembered the 42-year-old as a true rocker and a man with style.
Lead singer Pancho Mendoza said Munoz was always wearing a suit and hat and he was full of energy.
Mendoza added that the deceased was a big jokester and he was always himself, no matter what people said.
He said it had been hard for members of the band to process Munoz’s death.
He said he found out about the fatal accident on social media and he had to call Munoz’s sister to find out if it was true.
The car hit Munoz while he was crossing Dyer Street and he was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.
Police say he was walking in the middle of the southbound lane when an unknown vehicle struck him. The driver then fled the scene.
Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the accident and they have appealed for information.

Meanwhile, plans are being made for Munoz’s funeral and celebration of life concert.
The well-loved guitarist became the 18th traffic fatality in El Paso for the year so far. At this time in 2019, there were only 11 road deaths.
