Police have released the name of the man who was killed early Sunday morning in an Austin crash involving two pickup trucks.
He is 55-year-old Harrison Thomas Beard, Jr.
According to accident reports, the collision occurred around 5:15 a.m. in the 5200 block of South FM 973, to the south of its intersection with Pearce Lane.
Austin Police Department investigators said a red 2017 Dodge RAM was heading south when it crossed the center lane and struck a tan 2001 Ford F-150.
It was not immediately clear what caused the Dodge to veer out of its lane.
The driver of the F-150, Harrison Thomas Beard, Jr., passed away at the accident scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge, whose name was not revealed, was taken to St. David’s South Austin Hospital with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening.
No drugs or alcohol were believed to have been involved in the crash.
Police said this information was based on initial assessments and the investigation was still ongoing. More details could be released later.
