Authorities have arrested an Allen man on intoxicated driving and weapons charges several days after a crash in Plano that seriously injured three people, including a 3-year-old child.
The Plano Police Department on Friday said Jeffrey A. Barnett, 57, was arrested in connection to the crash, which was reported Monday. He also suffered injuries in the wreck, which occurred when he allegedly ran a stop sign and struck a minivan.
It is unclear Friday whether Barnett has obtained the services of a car injury attorney.
Police said Barnett on Monday failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of McDermott Road and Preston Meadow Drive. As he drove through the intersection, his pickup truck reportedly collided with a minivan, which had three occupants.
All three occupants of the minivan, none of whom were identified in police reports available Friday afternoon, were hospitalized with what were described as serious injuries. The occupants included a 3-year-old child, who was “unrestrained” in the vehicle. Barnett also was injured.
Updated condition reports weren’t available Friday evening.
Barnett was arrested on charges of intoxication assault, unlawful carrying of weapons and resisting arrest, search or transport, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation by the Plano Police Department Traffic Unit, according to a press release.
Online records didn’t list any additional details about the charges, nor did they list any upcoming court dates. If Barnett has not already done so, he will need to seek the services of a car injury attorney.
