Two men are dead following an accident on Interstate Highway 20, according to accident reports out of Texas.
They are 19-year-old Joshua Britt Quinn of Fairfield and 51-year-old Jerrell Bryan Daniel of Van.
Troopers responded to the crash around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday night.
It occurred about four miles to the southeast of Lindale in Smith County, near the 558 mile marker.
Investigators determined Quinn was driving east in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata when the vehicle ran off the road and hit several trees. Daniel was Quinn’s passenger.
It is not yet known why the vehicle ran off the road.
Quinn and Daniel were pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Jon Johnson and then transported to Caudle Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
The authorities will continue to investigate the crash and more information could be revealed in other accident reports.
Depending on the outcome of the investigations, Daniel’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim.
This would allow them to seek damages for a variety of losses. They would need help from a wrongful death attorney.
Every year, more than 300 people across the country die in road accidents during Memorial Day weekend.
Ahead of this year’s celebrations, the Texas Department of Public Safety encouraged all drivers to adhere to safe driving practices.
Texas Highway Patrol Troopers were out on patrol looking for drivers who were intoxicated, individuals not wearing seat belts, and drivers who were driving above the speed limit or breaking other traffic laws.
