Solo motor vehicle crashes are among the most common types of accidents in Texas and the United States. The others are two-vehicle collisions, multiple vehicle collisions, rear-ended collisions, head-on, and broad-sided collisions.

The factors that lead to road crashes range from the negligence of drivers to elements on the road beyond their control. They include impairments with drugs or alcohol, going beyond the legal speed limit of the roadway, disobeying traffic rules, lights, stop signs, and driving distracted.

Distracted driving occurs when a motorist texts, calls, eats, or engages in a heated conversation with a passenger when driving. Accident reports show that it takes only about three seconds for a driver with divided attention to crash.

Law enforcement and traffic agencies advise drivers to deists from the preceding and drive carefully. The latter goes a long way in ensuring their safety, that of their passengers, and other road users.
