A major car crash at Southwest 46th and South Parker Street, Amarillo, Texas, left a man identified as Kenneth Ulibarri dead. According to accident reports, the crash happened on Tuesday, May 26, at about 3:40 p.m.
The Amarillo police, in their crash report, said that an unidentified Amarillo man was driving south on Parker Street. At the same time, the 58-year-old Ulibarri, also from Amarillo, was traveling east on the road.
The unidentified driver of the first vehicle ran a red light and crashed into Ulibarri’s vehicle. The impact of the accident caused Ulibarri’s car to also strike a home on the 4600 block of South Parker.
After hitting Ulibarri’s car, the suspect’s vehicle also hit a utility pole before flipping onto its side. The suspect got out of the damaged car and ran away. Ulibarri died at the scene of the crash.
The Amarillo Police Department revealed that the unidentified suspect was under investigation by DPS Criminal Investigation Agents. They were looking for him in connection with a felony assault prior to the crash. The agents later found the suspect hiding in a shed near the scene of the crash.
Authorities took him to a hospital where he received treatment for the non-life threatening injuries he sustained after the crash. They arrested him afterward on his Felony Warrant, Murder, and Accident causing Death.
The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is currently investigating the incident. Meanwhile, accident reports state that the suspect’s identity will not be released until authorities book him into jail.
