An alleged car thief was detained in San Angelo, Texas, after leading the police in a vehicle chase that ended in a multi-vehicle crash, causing injury to a juvenile. The San Angelo Police arrested the suspect, Landon Beatty, following the bizarre occurrence on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, as shown in the accident reports.

The incident began at about 12:30 pm when the owner of a vehicle reported stolen on Sunday, contacted the investigating officer in charge, claiming to know the whereabouts of the missing car.

The car owner reportedly sighted the 2017 Honda Civic in the parking lot of La Azteca Meat Market in 2028 North Bryant Boulevard. The owner told police he was there on a hunch after the debit card stolen alongside the vehicle was used in the area the previous day.

Upon his arrival, the officer approached the Honda, but the driver drove off at a high rate of speed onto Martin Luther King Drive.

While in transit, the stolen vehicle, traveling southbound, crashed into a blue Cadillac and a white pickup, which left the Honda disabled. The motorist then abandoned the stolen car and fled on foot, passing a nearby restaurant before joining North Bryant Boulevard.

The drivers of the two vehicles went after the suspect in their respective cars until they accosted him, held him down, and awaited police arrival.

A 16-year-old girl in the Cadillac suffered injuries in the crash and was taken to Shannon Medical Center for treatment. No one else was harmed, the accident reports ascertained.

Landon Beatty was taken into custody on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest/detention with a car, and on foot. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for evading.
