Lawrence Malveaux Killed after Car Crashes and Bursts into Flames

A Beaumont man died early on Monday morning after he crashed his car on the Eastex Freeway. According to accident reports, the vehicle quickly went up in flames.

Beaumont police identified the deceased as 27-year-old Lawrence Malveaux.

He was allegedly escaping an upset mother who had caught him trying to contact her 12-year-old daughter.

The Beaumont Police Department said its officers went to the scene of the single-car crash at 4:32 a.m. at the intersection of the freeway and Chinn Lane.

Those first on the scene found a Buick GS that had sustained severe damage to the front. It was in the northbound lanes of a work zone.

The vehicle was engulfed in flames and the Beaumont Fire Department put out the fire.

Malveaux, who was the only person in the vehicle, died as a result of the wreck and fire.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he entered the northbound lanes of the Freeway and hit a rough section of the road.

More information could be provided in follow-up accident reports.

Meanwhile, the roads continue to be deadly in Texas even amid restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For example, city officials say Austin has seen a reduction in traffic volumes of around 50 percent, but crashes are only down by approximately 20 percent. Furthermore, serious injuries have increased by about 15 percent.

Susanne Harm of the city’s transportation department was quoted as saying that the people who continue to get behind the wheel seem to be getting into serious accidents more frequently. She suggested that this was because they were driving faster.

Some victims seek representation from a car accident lawyer.
