Two people were tragically killed in a two-vehicle collision that left one other victim hospitalized with severe injuries in Pittsburg, Texas. The dire incident, which took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 5, calls for the legal expertise of a car accident lawyer.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash shortly after it was called in by witnesses, who confirmed at least three casualties resulting from the encounter. Investigators gathered that one of the vehicles involved was driven by Marvin Hooper, a 77-year-old resident of Pittsburg.

Hooper’s car was traveling through the south traffic lanes of US Highway 271, conveying at least two occupants. For reasons yet to be determined, the southbound vehicle crossed the dividing lines, and drifted into the north lanes of travel, where it struck a northbound car driven by Darlette Nunley, 53, of Pittsburg.

The impact of the collision caused damages to both vehicles, leaving their respective occupants injured. Emergency responders pronounced the two motorists dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the sole passenger in Hooper’s vehicle was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The injured person’s name was not disclosed in the reports.

The authorities did not affirm whether impairment by drugs or alcohol was suspected as a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. It is important for car accident victims to contact a car accident lawyer for representation.
