Yet another motorcyclist has died on Texas’ roads, accident reports show.
Twenty-five-year-old Omar Robles was riding a white Suzuki motorcycle when he collided with a white Honda Civic on Thursday.
The crash happened in the 12900 block of Petunia Drive around 5:30 p.m.
Officials said the Honda was making a left turn when the collision occurred.
Robles was transported to hospital for medical treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while there.
The name of the driver of the Civic was not released. It is not known whether the individual will be facing any charges.
However, the El Paso Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to look out for motorcyclists and pay greater attention to their surroundings this May.
The call came on Tuesday after the Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to two separate motorcycle crashes within five days in late April.
Motorists have been urged to be especially careful at intersections since this is where collisions often occur. The office said looking twice can help to prevent accidents, including those that result in death or serious injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office also reminded motorcyclists to wear a helmet and protective gear.
All riders under the age of 21 must wear a helmet when operating a motorcycle. Those over the age of 21 can ride without a helmet if they are covered by insurance or they have completed a safety course.
Future accident reports may provide more information about the driver in Thursday’s crash.
