Police: Margaret Rhodes Injured In Wichita Falls Crash

Authorities said an intoxicated woman suffered serious injuries early Thursday morning when she crashed head-on into a semi-tractor trailer in Wichita Falls.

Margaret A. Rhodes was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries after the crash, which occurred at about 3 a.m. Thursday on Central Freeway North. No other injuries were reported as  a result of the two-vehicle crash.

Authorities said Rhodes, whose age and city of residence were not released by authorities, was driving the wrong way on the freeway early Thursday morning. She then crashed into a semi, which was heading in the opposite direction.

An officer who arrived at the scene said Rhodes was “very combative with officers and first responders.”

“I observed (Rhodes’) eyes to be glassy and bloodshot and her (speech) was slurred and confused,” the officer wrote. “Due to the odor of the leaking fluids from both vehicles, I could not detect any alcoholic odors.”

Rhodes was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, while the driver of the semi, whose name was not released by authorities, did not report injuries, police said.

Rhodes later was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and was transported to the Wichita County Jail, police said. Online jail records show she was released later in the day Thursday on a $500 personal recognizance bond.
