A man is dead after crashing a motorcycle into a raised center barrier in north Austin, Texas. Authorities, on April 15, said the fatal victim was riding a reportedly stolen motorcycle, and therefore remains a suspect in an earlier motorcycle theft, unless proven otherwise by a motorcycle attorney.
Officers responded to the solo crash just after 11:45 pm on April 11, at the 8000 block of Research Boulevard, following reports of a wrecked motorcycle and a severely injured cyclist.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cyclist, identified as Rocky Anthony Bell, 32, was riding a red 2002 Honda motorcycle northbound on Research Boulevard.
Just as he neared the 8000 blocks, the cyclist suddenly lost control of the bike, which spun sideways and struck the inside barrier separating both directions of traffic.
The impact of the collision forced him to be thrown off the bike, and onto the ground, suffering major injuries as a result.
Emergency responders pronounced the 32-year-old dead at the scene. Investigating officers discovered that the wrecked 2012 Honda matched the description of one that had been reported stolen earlier on.
It is still unclear what caused Bell to lose control of the motorcycle and crash to his death.
Police are investigating the fatality, and have asked anyone with useful information regarding the crash to contact the Austin Police department.
Although, being in possession of a stolen motorcycle clearly makes him a suspect, a more in-depth investigation may vindicate the fatal victim, hence, the need for a motorcycle attorney.
