Hector Segura & Olga Casas Die in Two-Vehicle Collision in San Antonio

At least two motorists were confirmed dead on Sunday following a collision between a wrong-way vehicle and an 18-wheeler on eastbound Interstate 10 in San Antonio, Texas. According to accident reports provided by the Bexar County Sheriff’s office, the incident took place on Sunday, April 19.

Prior to the crash, officers received a 911 call reporting a wrong-way driver moving erratically on I-10. Before officers arrived at the location, however, they were alerted that the traffic disruption had resulted in a major crash.

Investigators determined that a Sedan was traveling west through the east traffic lanes on the highway when it collided head-on with an eastbound 18-wheeler. As a result of the collision, the 18-wheeler was jackknifed, while the sedan went ablaze.

Following the initial crash, another 18-wheeler plying the west lanes also crashed into the jackknifed one, worsening the tragic situation.

While none of the occupants of the second 18-wheeler was harmed in the collision, the drivers of the other two vehicles involved suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office identified the fatal victims as Hector Segura, 54 & Olga Casas, 57.

Officers believe alcohol may have played a part in the tragic wreck; however, the speculations would only be confirmed by the toxicology reports ordered as part of the investigation.

An updated accident report would be released once the investigations are completed.
