A man is dead following an accident on the Far South Side on Friday, accident reports say.
He has been identified as 33-year-old Levi David Anderton.
The crash took place around midnight in the southbound lanes of Highway 16 and Mission Gate.
When police arrived on the scene, they found three extensively damaged vehicles and an unresponsive Anderton.
Paramedics from the San Antonio Fire Department tried to save his life, but they were not able to revive him.
Police say Anderton was driving a Dodge Challenger and it seemed he tried to cross Highway 16. Two southbound vehicles – a Dodge Ram and a Toyota Camry – struck his car.
Neither of the drivers is expected to be charged. The authorities did not release their names.
Texas continues to record car accidents daily despite a state-wide stay at home mandate in response to COVID-19. Some of these accidents are fatal, as accident reports from law enforcement agencies show.
Some of the crashes result from driver impairment, reckless driving, and distracted driving. Road or weather conditions can also play a role.
Injured people and survivors of victims may be eligible for compensation in some cases.
They will need help from a Texas car injury lawyer.
Texas allows spouses, children, and parents to file wrongful death claims. The deceased person’s estate can also file a survival action to recover medical expenses and other damages.
Unlike what obtains in some other states, Texas does not allow siblings, cousins or grandparents to file claims.
