Saragosa Ramirez Killed In Single-Vehicle Wreck Near Lubbock

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the person killed in a single-vehicle wreck Tuesday morning in Dickens County.

Saragosa M. Ramirez, 80, of Roaring Springs, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on Texas 70, authorities said. No other injuries were reported by officials from the state agency.

Authorities said Ramirez was driving north on Texas 70 near Dickens County 242 when he lost control of his vehicle. The pickup truck then left the roadway, entered a grassy area near the highway and rolled, authorities said.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash site, where Ramirez ultimately was pronounced dead by a local judge.

Investigators believe Ramirez was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. They also believe significant rainfall in the area might have created less-than-ideal road conditions in Dickens County.

Authorities did not say whether other factors might have contributed to Ramirez losing control of his vehicle and driving off the roadway, causing it to roll over. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck and Ramirez did not have any passengers in his truck with him at the time of the incident.
