Shan Gal Baw Killed Outside a Crosswalk in Amarillo Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who lost his life in a tragic vehicle-pedestrian crash in Amarillo, Texas. Accident reports obtained from the Amarillo Police Department confirmed that the incident took place on Sunday, May 17.

Officers responded to a location near the 4800 block of Amarillo Boulevard, shortly after witnesses called in the traffic collision. Police said a woman and two juveniles also got caught up in the tragic encounter.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the fatal victim was attempting to go across the boulevard when the crash happened. The man reportedly walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle, which struck him, causing fatal injuries. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities disclosed the fatal victim’s identity as 61-year-old Shan Gal Baw. A 31-year-old woman was behind the wheels of the vehicle which struck Baw. Two minors were riding as passengers in the car at the time. Officers did not report any of the vehicle occupants injured.

Investigators believe Baw was outside the crosswalk when the crash happened. A post-mortem investigation ordered on the deceased man would bring to light more details about the incident, including the victim’s cause of death.

The Amarillo Police Department is heading the investigation into the deadly vehicle-pedestrian crash, the accident reports affirmed.
