ATV-related deaths in Texas are not very common, and mostly occur when riders fail to adhere to safety rules guiding the use of ATV. Sadly, one-third of these fatalities or injuries in the state involve minors.
The Texas Department of Safety Motorcycle/ATV Safety Units warns that ATV riders should only ride an age-appropriate ATV. Riders should also avoid moving on public roads, paved surfaces, or without protective gears.
In addition, anyone under the age of sixteen should not operate an all-terrain vehicle without the close supervision of an adult.
