Two Women Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-45

Two women were killed early on Friday morning in a five-vehicle smash-up, according to accident reports from Houston, Texas.

Their names were not revealed in the hours following the crash. However, the authorities revealed that two children, a one-year-old and a three-year-old, survived the accident.

One of the vehicles involved in the collision was an Amazon delivery truck.

Police said the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. A Lincoln Navigator was towing a trailer along 1-45 at Rankin when a tire went flat.  The vehicle was occupied by two parents and their two children.

While they were on the side of the freeway, a Mazda driven by a woman crashed into the back of the trailer.

The two women got out of their vehicles and while they stood, a Chevy Silverado swerved to avoid the wreck and hit a wall. That vehicle spun into the center lanes of the freeway.

Meanwhile, the driver of a Chevy Suburban pulled over and exited their vehicle to help. At the same time, the Amazon truck crashed into all the vehicles and ran over the two women.

The man who got out of the Suburban jumped off the overpass when he saw the semi-truck coming and avoided being hit.

He landed around 10 to 15 feet below and suffered serious injuries. He was able to call 911 and report the crash.

Police say the two children were properly restrained and they were taken to hospital along with a man.

According to the authorities, the road was slick when the accident occurred and that may have caused the Silverado to spin out.

No charges are expected to be filed in the hours following the fatal crash.

Subsequent accident reports will provide additional information including the names of the victims. The families of the victims may seek the services of a car accident lawyer.
