The Midland man arrested in connection with the crash that killed James Ragsdale reportedly told police he had been drinking all night.
Furthermore, a probable cause affidavit released on Sunday said Colton Bradley was driving with a suspended license and had no liability insurance.
According to the report, the 21-year-old admitted to having two shots and three beers on Saturday before running a red light and causing the accident at East 29th Street and Briarcrest Drive.
Officers who responded to the crash asked Bradley where he and Ragsdale were coming from and Bradley reportedly said they had left a Bryan bar around midnight.
He allegedly went on to say they had been drinking all night and admitted that he was “definitely” intoxicated.
The officer also said he could detect alcohol on Bradley’s breath.
Investigators said Bradley was going north on East 29th Street in his 2013 Chevrolet Camaro when he ran a traffic light at Briarcrest.
His car was T-boned on the passenger side by a pickup truck that was heading west on Briarcrest.
A police officer and an onlooker tried to perform CPR on Ragsdale, but he was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
The report said two people were traveling in the pickup truck suffered broken bones while the driver of a third vehicle received minor injuries.
Police revealed that Bradley was convicted on three previous occasions for driving with an invalid license.
He remains behind bars at Brazos County Detention Center with his bonds set at $57,000.
His charges include intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle, and having no liability insurance on his car.
