A 36-year-old woman has been arrested following accusations that she served alcohol to three teenagers who died in a Plano car crash last month.
The teens died on February 17 after the BMW sedan in which they were traveling hit two trees and split in two. It then traveled more than 150 feet before it caught fire.
The driver was 18-year-old Yuxuan Wang and his passengers were 18-year-old Jin Chen and 16-year-old Yuchen Jin.
Investigators determined that speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
According to new arrest documents, Yu Gao served then alcohol at Focus BBQ that night.
She was arrested on February 28 and she now faces charges of selling alcohol to a minor and selling an alcoholic beverage during prohibited hours.
The restaurant on West Spring Creek Parkway is currently under investigation by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The accident was so horrific that first responders initially thought it involved two cars. It was only after fire officers got close that they realized it was a single-vehicle crash.
Neighbors said drivers often speed on the area on Hedgcoxe Road where the accident occurred since it’s a long road with just a slight curve.
According to Yu Gao’s arrest records, the three teens arrived at the restaurant around 1 a.m. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Gao filling a large container with beer and giving it to the boys.
It is alleged that the victims never showed any ID.
According to investigators, Gao filled up another container for the boys around 2:09 a.m. Serving hours were supposed to end at 2. They finished this beer and left around 3:11 a.m.
Thirty minutes later, the crash occurred.
The teenagers’ blood toxicology results have not been returned as yet.
