Crash Involving Snowplow Leaves One Dead


Katharine G. Bizzotto, 31, was killed Monday night in an auto accident a snowplow in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

Bizzotto, a resident of Thornton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred just before midnight at Alice and Halstead Streets. The snowplow in the incident was a 2015 International truck owned by the Illinois Department of Transportation, and appears to have collided with Bizzotto’s 2000 Pontiac Grand Am.

Following the incident, the driver of the snowplow, a 57-year-old man whose identity has not been released, was injured and taken to Franciscan St. James Health for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unclear. Bizzotto’s death has been ruled an accident, and the crash remains under investigation.
