A woman sustained injuries while the Crystal Lake Police Department detained a man after an auto-motorcycle collision in Crystal Lake, Illinois, on Monday, September 14th. 38-year-old Ryan Hurst of Alsip would need a drunk driving attorney’s service.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Kotlowski said that officers and Fire/Rescue Units responded to the crash site around 8:16 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 14 and 31. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 Harley-Davidson operated by Hurst was eastbound on R-14.

The motorcycle then collided with the rear of a 2014 Ford Escape that stopped facing east on R-14 at R-31. The suspect suffered injuries that the police described as non-life-threatening, and medics took him to Northwestern McHenry Hospital.

The motorcycle passenger, a 28-year-old McHenry woman, suffered significant injuries. She received treatment from the same hospital as Hurst before medical personnel flew her to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville.

The 63-year-old driver of the Ford from Fox River Grove did not suffer any injury. Kotlowski said the investigation showed that the motorcyclist was impaired when he rode the Harley-Davidson. Officers arrested him on one count of driving while license revoked, and five counts of aggravated DUI.

The police took Hurst to the McHenry County Jail and set his bail bond at $3,000. The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing.

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a severe offense under the Illinois Vehicle Code. Convicted offenders are liable to imprisonment, fines, or suspension of driving privileges.
