Cooper Lamb Investigated for Possible DUI Crash in Pinal County

The son of the Pinal County Sheriff would need the services of a drunk driving attorney if it is confirmed that he drove under the influence in Pinal County, Illinois. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation to determine if Cooper Lamb, 20, was impaired when he struck an adult bicyclist on Wednesday, July 8th.

The accident report filed by Sheriff Mark Lamb of the PCSO showed that the collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Gary Road south of Judd Road in Pinal County. The male bicyclist sustained injuries, and the medics rushed him to the hospital, where he remained on Thursday, July 9th.

Sheriff Mark asked the Maricopa Sheriff to handle the investigation to prevent conflict of interest, and the MCSO Vehicular Crimes Unit is heading it. The deputies felt the circumstances of the crash were worthy of a blood draw to check for impairment, and obtained a warrant for it.

Cooper gave his blood for the toxicology test, and the investigators impounded his car as evidence. If the deputies verify that the man was impaired, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will handle the prosecution. The sheriff’s son is not in custody at this time, but that could change when the toxicology report comes out.

Illinois laws frown at drivers who drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A person must always have below .08 blood alcohol concentration when in transit. Anything from that number is an offense, and offenders who crash their cars and injure another person in that state would face criminal prosecution.
