Three cars were involved in a collision early Thursday morning in Granite City, Illinois, on roads covered with one to two inches of snow.
The accident occurred at approximately 7 a.m., at Illinois Route Three and Pontoon Beach Rood. According to Ken Rozell, mayor of Granite City, the crash began when one car hit a vehicle in front of it, causing the second vehicle to in turn hit a third car, which had just pulled out in front of the first two.
The drivers of all three cars were transported to local hospitals, and one was later moved to a hospital in St. Louis. No one else was involved in the accident.
It is unclear if weather was a factor in the collision. According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, aside from this incident, the Thursday morning commute in the area was largely uneventful, with no other major collisions.
