Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Petaluma early Thursday morning.
The crash, which occurred shortly before 7 a.m., involved four vehicles, and began when the driver of a black Ford Mustang, headed north on South McDowell Boulevard, apparently experienced a stuck accelerator and was unable to stop for a red light at the intersection of North McDowell Boulevard and East Washington Street.
The Mustang, driven by 21-year-old Jose Ochoa, ran the red light and hit a black Honda Accord and white Dodge van, and then continued on before hitting a yellow Chevrolet pickup on the other side of the intersection.
At least four people were injured. Three of the injured were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and the fourth was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital. Most of the injuries were not very serious, although one woman, the driver of the Accord, did suffer a broken jaw.
Petaluma police are still investigating the crash. Ochoa was found to be driving without a license. However, he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Police are currently examining his car for accelerator problems.
