Four people were critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Jefferson Boulevard in South Los Angeles, near the campus of the University of Southern California.
The crash occurred at 12:30 on Friday morning. Two vehicles traveling west on Jefferson Boulevard near Orchard Avenue collided. Both vehicles then lost control, with one hitting a tree and the other hitting several parked cars.
Four people were in the vehicle that hit the parked cars. They were extricated by the Los Angeles Fire Department, and taken to the nearby hospitals, where they were in critical condition.
The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene on foot. Police have not yet located the second driver, but he is wanted for felony hit-and-run.
The collision also caused a fire, which was extinguished by LAFD.
Although the crash occurred near USC, it does not appear that any of the people involved were USC students. Police are still unsure of the cause of the collision, but it appears that drag racing may have been a factor.
