The California Highway Patrol has released a report which indicates the doubling of motorcycle deaths over the past eight years. While the data is still being gathered and studied, it appears that in Los Angeles County, there were 96 motorcycle accident deaths in 2008 alone. This is a dramatic increase when compared to the 58 motorcycle accident deaths in 2001.
While the direct cause of this dramatic increase is unknown, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation notes that motorcycle sales have been on the rise in the past ten to twelve years.
